The Patterns Found in Space – Mike Perry Exhibition

March 18, 2009

Mike Perry Eames Rocker - Patterns Found in Space 2009 exhibition

Part of It contributor Mike Perry has a new solo exhibition, The Patterns Found in Space, up at Giant Robot in New York City. The show features more than twenty new works by Mister Perry, who is a master pattern-maker, author, illustrator, and all-around prolific graphic whiz. The show includes a pair of beautiful hand-illuminated Eames Rockers as well as a tasty assortment of original art works and prints.

Mike has a special place in the Part of It pantheon as one of our very first participants. His “It’s Just You and Me” t-shirt is an important work in the Part of It catalog, and we’re super glad to see him and his work in the spotlight!

Best Before October 26, 2008

October 21, 2008

We’re very happy to announce that Part of It will be celebrating Daniel Eatock’s “Best Before October 26, 2008” project, which he created to coincide with the closing of his exhibition, Extra Medium, at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania (just outside of Philly, PA). We’re hosting a sale of Eatock’s “Alphabet” shirt at a special price but the sale will end on October 26.

Eatock’s new book, Imprint, which features his life’s work thus far was just published, and, to our happy surprise, we learned this weekend that it includes his Alphabet design for Part of It!

A Very Nice Snapshot!

October 16, 2008

We thought we’d share a recent snapshot from the It’s Nice That “Original Format” Exhibition, currently on display at the Plymouth College of Art and Design. We blogged about it earlier this month, and were so excited to see the wonderful pictures that the It’s Nice That crew have made available of the show. This was one of our favorites from the set, and features one of the tote bags that Genevieve Gauckler designed for Part of It (lower right)!

Eatock – Editions & Originals

November 18, 2007

Part of It artist Daniel Eatock [www.eatock.com] is having a solo exhibition from 2007 November 16 – 2008 January 12. The show, “Editions and Originals” will be at Kemistry Gallery in London, and will explore– among other things– the connections between image and language, titles, punch lines, miscommunication, subversion, open systems, contributions from others, seriality, collections, discovery, and inventing.

Excitingly, Daniel’s also produced two new works: “Boite-en-valise (Traveling Museum),” a box of 8 folded prints that collect his works, and, juxtaposed, realize groupings and connections of reoccurring interests; and six individual large scale litho prints.

As anyone who’s explored Eatock’s website knows, his work shows an imaginative and unique curatorial perspective– a fascination with patterns and collections, with accidents of place and location.

If you’re in London, check out his show!
